Release date and further informations about "The Update"

Dear Community,

The major update took more time than we expected, but we promised that it would get finished sooner or later. We successfully finished all the important tests and are also satisfied with the results of the character database updater.

At the last team meeting, we came to the conclusion that we can set finally an official release date and we will use the next few days to check the server logs carefully, fixing any remaining issues. There will not be any major changes until after this update has been installed, because any changes now could cause unexpected issues without detailed testing. We prefer quality and stability in this case.

We have decided to set the "21.02.2011 - 23:59 Server Time" as update date.

The install itself will take several hours, and we do not expect any issues, because you saw yourself that the whole process got tested carefully. Though you probably know that technical devices do sometimes what they want, so you may have to be patient on the update day and give us the time which we need.

We anticipate that there will not be any "rollback", and all characters will stay in the database as promised. That means your characters will be still here even if you stopped playing years ago. We have enough resources and fast roots which make that possible, not to mention the big experience which we collected in the last years.

Some players have asked us if we will reset honor and arena points. The answer is "yes", because we will release the S4 set after the update, and we want everyone to have the same fair chance to obtain it. Lifetime kills will remain untouched so your PvP reputation won't be affected by this reset.

It would be nice if you could go on the testrealm in the next days and check your characters carefully, if you notice any issues then report them in this thread. If you would like to discuss this announcement use this thread instead.

We installed the update in the last 9~ hours with success, we watch the logs carefully now in case any issues appear. What you need to know is:

- All characters have been transferred as promised
- The honor cap is set to blizzlike 75k now (If you have more it will be automatically set to 75k)
- Arena teams / points have been deleted
- S4 will be available in the next days (In case no issues / related bugs appear)
- Some guild house doors may not work currently, we will fix this issue this evening (Most team members are simply too tired now)
- Some of our web services like the account manager are temporary not available
- Global VMAPs have been only partially activated yet, we want to watch the results of the update first. Once it is working smooth as it should we will enable them completely.

We installed this night a small update to get rid of the most annoying issues:

- Dampen magic and related healing spells have been fixed, unusual high healing values won't appear anymore
- A lot of stability issues are finally fixed now, there are only 2-3 cases left where we need more debug informations
- Instance issues with bosses like Malacrass, Necromancer or Nightbane should be fixed now
- The possibility to ninja loot with memory editing has been fixed (Don't think we haven't noticed it)
- A possible fix for the "Who list" issue has been added, though we need more feedback in that case
- The "Client stuck" issues should be gone now or at least very decreased, we will keep an eye on it and would like to get also more feedback in this case
- Several minor fixes which aren't worth mentioning (e.g the .goblin scale bug)

There will be of course more updates in the near future as promised, though we consider currently with the team radical changes so the PvP part of the community will be really happy. We will run in the next days several tests to gather the informations which are required to continue, then we will inform you about our further steps. A few trustable players who really know their classes in and outside on TBC may could help us in that case, just come to IRC (Webchat) if you are interested.

A surprise for you is being developed by an external team by the way, you will hear more about that in the next weeks.
